MDOT SHA announces a reduced speed limit in Salisbury Bypass work zone

Starting Tuesday, the work zone speed limit on the US 13, US 50 Salisbury Bypass will be reduced from 55 miles per hour to just 45 miles per hour.

The new speed limit will apply to both north and southbound directions throughout the bridge rehabilitation work zone.

MDOT SHA representatives say reducing the speed is necessary to protect the lives of everyone involved.

Charlie Gischlar, MDOT SHA's spokesperson said, "The speed reduction is necessary for worker and motorist safety due to increased activity at multiple locations in the work zone. There will be a lot of trucks going in and out as we start to wrap this project up which is due to be in fact to be completed this spring."

The reduced speed will remain in place until the project's completion.
