Harris opposes off-shore drilling in Maryland

Maryland Rep. Andy Harris is throwing his name into the list of people who do not support off-shore drilling here along Delmarva's coast.

Harris tells 47 ABC that he actually supports off-drilling itself, saying it is crucial for our country's future, but only in jurisdictions that want it.

Since Ocean City, Berlin, and Worcester County have taken positions against it, he is joining them.

"I believe the idea of off-shore drilling for those jurisdictions that want to participate is very good for America's energy future and again I support the concept but not the application off the shores of Maryland because the local jurisdictions oppose it," explains Rep. Harris.

This coming after the Trump administration announced their plans to expand off-shore drilling. Harris believes each jurisdiction should have the power to decide whether they want it or not.
