Fire officials: No injuries reported in Millsboro explosion

No one was injured after officials say a propane tank was secured following an explosion, in Millsboro.

The Millsboro Fire Company says on Tuesday, after 2:00 PM, they responded to St. John's Baptist Church, on Mount Joy Road, for a reported explosion. Fire officials say the Delaware State Fire Marshal and Sharp Energy were on scene, after a release valve on a propane tank blew off and damaged the siding of the building.

Authorities say the energy company shut off and secured the tank. No one was injured as a result of the incident

According to Assistant Fire Chief Greg Short, when pressure builds inside a propane tank, a release valve blows off instead of the tank rupturing.
