Bennett holds off Decatur to remain undefeated at home this season
The Bennett Clippers defeated the Stephen Decatur Seahawks 73-63 at home tonight. The win makes the Clippers 11-6 on the year and the loss drops the Seahawks 9-6 for their third straight loss.
It was a packed gym at James M. Bennett as the Clippers hosted the Seahawks of Decatur. Like any Bayside South rivalry game, it was close and physical. In the first half, Bennett was able to take the 33-26 lead behind eleven points from both Montaze Jeffeson and Devin Binns. Decatur was able to keep it close with eight points from senior Kevon Voyles and seven from Churchill Bounds.
In the second half, Voyles exploded with eighteen points combined with two clutch threes Brett Berquist to get Decatur within four. But Montaze Jefferson and Otis Russell would be too much for the Seahawks with a combined twenty four points in the second half to propel Bennett to the 73-63 home win.
The Clippers will look to continue their win streak next Tuesday when they travel to Pocomoke. Decatur will try and get back in the win column tomorrow as they travel to Washington to take on the Jaguars.
