New Year’s Eve hit and run: Victim in critical condition, suspect wanted

Dupont Boulevard (US 113) in the area of E. Hudson Pond Road, Lincoln, Delaware.

Delaware State Police are investigating a New Year's Eve hit and run, that left a 21-year-old New Castle man in critical condition.

The accident happened on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at approximately 5:44 PM. Police say the victim was on northbound Dupont Boulevard (US 113), in the area of E. Hudson Pond Road, when he was hit.

Officials say an unknown vehicle was driving northbound on US 113 when it hit the pedestrian. The suspected vehicle quickly stopped on the nearby shoulder and then fled northbound on US 113.

The 21-year-old pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was taken from the scene by EMS. He was initially transported to the Milford Memorial Hospital before being flown to the Christiana Hospital for further treatment. Police say impairment seems to be a contributing factor on the pedestrian's behalf.

The make and model of the suspected vehicle is not known, but is described as maroon/red in color. The car should have front end damage to the hood, bumper and lights. It is also missing a driver’s side mirror and may have a ruptured radiator.

Troopers continue to collect and analyze evidence at the scene to determine the make and model of the vehicle.

Northbound Dupont Boulevard (US 113) in the area of E. Hudson Pond Road was closed for approximately three hours, while the crash was investigated and cleared.
