Community rallying to support local battling brain cancer

A community is rallying around a local woman battling stage-three brain cancer.  Julia Jaquette, an Indian River and Washington College graduate, was honored with a benefit dinner in Fenwick.

After complaining of headaches for a period of time, PRMC ran tests and found the tumor.

The fun-loving, very outgoing 27-year-old went through successful surgery and has since begun radiation at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

If all goes well her last week of radiation treatment will be the last week of January.

"It's awesome to see the generosity of the community and how well they come together.  It's also very surreal," said Julia's boyfriend Steuart Weisman.  "I've done stuff like this for other people but to have it someone that close to you, is very intense."

If you wish to donate to the cause, Julia's page is gofundme.com/julia-brain-cancer.  So far, the page has raised over $6,000.
