Man reportedly shot at New Church home, investigation ongoing

An alleged accidental shooting remains under investigation, after deputies say a man showed up to a local medical facility with a gunshot wound, in Accomack County.

The Accomack County Sheriff's Office says on Sunday, just before 11:30 AM, they received a report from the Eastern Shore 911 Center about a man with a gunshot wound at the Atlantic Medical Center, in New Church. 

According to the report, further investigation revealed that the victim was allegedly shot accidentally at his New Church home. It is unclear if the the victim shot himself accidentally or was shot by another person.

The man was reportedly transported by personal vehicle to the medical center. At that point, police say the victim was taken by Oak Hall Rescue to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Deputies say that this is an ongoing investigation.
