UPDATE: Man identified in connection to Milton domestic incident; one still in critical condition
Delaware State Police say a 61-year-old man has been identified, after he died during a domestic incident at a home, in Milton. The woman involved in the incident continues to be listed in critical condition due to wounds sustained during the incident.
Troopers say 61-year-old John Pinto III was identified as the man who died during a domestic incident, in Milton, on Thursday. According to the report, DSP responded to a home, in the 13000 block of Sunland Drive, for a reported domestic dispute. Once on scene, authorities learned that Pinto was armed with an unknown type of firearm and was threatening to harm his wife who was alone in the house with him. After establish a perimeter and communicating over the phone with Pinto, troopers say he then began to make threatening statements to first responders. While talking with Pinto, gunshots were reportedly heard and a 911 cal was made shortly after by a 60-year-old women stating that her and Pinto had been shot.
At that Point, law enforcement went into the home and found Pinto and the women in a bedroom. Pinto was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the report, a Delaware Division of Forensic Science autopsy revealed that Pinto's death was due to a homicide by gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
The 60-year-old woman apparently remains in critical condition at Christiana Medical Center for gunshot wounds she sustained to her lower torso during the altercation with Pinto.
This incident remains under investigation by homicide detectives. 47ABC will update this story as more information becomes available.
