Milford traffic stop leads to endangerment and DUI charges for woman
A woman is facing DUI and endangerment charges, after police say she was driving under the influence of drugs with a child in the back seat, in Milford.
The Milford Police Department says on Thursday, around 9:12 PM, officers were dispatched to WaWa, on North DuPont Boulevard, for a welfare check. Police say they were advised that the woman driving a blue Toyota Camry seemed to be under the influence, and was falling asleep inside the vehicle with a child in the back seat.
According to the report, once on scene, officer noticed the vehicle exiting the parking lot and turning on to northwest Front Street. While traveling southbound on North DuPont Boulevard, police pulled the vehicle over. During the traffic stop, officers says they noticed that the driver, 34-year-old Elizabeth Holston, of Milford, showed signs of being under the influence.
After further investigation, Holston was arrested. During a search while in custody, police reportedly found the Holston was in possession of several prescription bottles and over the counter medication. According to the report, Holston also had a small juvenile in the vehicle with her.
Holston was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drug, endangering the welfare of a child while DUI, and a traffic violation. She was later turned over to Sussex Correctional Institution on $2,250 unsecured bail. Holston was ordered to appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date in reference to this case.
The small minor was apparently turned over to a responsible adult.
