Accomack Co. woman arrested for caging kids, forcing them to live in filth
The case of an Accomack County woman who is accused of keeping two of her five children caged in cribs and forcing all of them to live in filth will be decided by a grand jury.
Authorities say that 38-year-old Malista Ness Hopkins' house was full of trash and that it had plates of rotting food in the sink and bathtub.
A social worker testified on Friday that they first received complaints about Hopkins in late July.
Hopkins allegedly told the social worker that she confined the children because she was having a hard time. She has been charged five times with child abuse- disregard for human life.
