Ocean Pines has been ranked in the top 100 safest cities in America by a home security company called Safewise.

Ocean Pines was the only Maryland community to make the list.

It ranked in at number 90 in the country.

The security company analyzed FBI crime statistics from each state and researched each city’s public safety, public health and educational offerings to determine the 2017 rankings.

Ocean Pines officials said they are happy to represent Maryland in a positive way.

Denise Sawyer, a Marketing and PR Director for Ocean Pines, said, “Fortunately we are able to represent the state of Maryland as well as Delmarva at a national level. We do so with the help of our neighbors. We have those nosy residents who keep a watchful eye on their neighborhood, and they’ll tell a police officer if there’s anything going on suspicious.”

Ocean Pines said their residents enjoy living in a safe community.

They take pride in their national ranking and will continue to work hard at maintaining their status.
