Anonymous CFES donor pledges $25k to Harvey Relief
There's big news from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES). Earlier this week they activated their disaster relief fund for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Thursday, they told 47 ABC that an anonymous donor has pledged to match $25,000 towards relief efforts. That's on top of the $5,000 matching pledge from CFES itself. All of that money will be distributed to the Greater Houston Community Foundation's Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
Officials tells 47 ABC they've had a great response since activating the fund.
"In times of crisis, donors can sometimes be hesitant to send monetary donations, but by working through local community foundations, donors can feel assured that funding will be spent only for the intended relief purposes, " says CFES President Erica Joseph. "While not affiliated with one another, all community foundations must meet rigid standards of excellence and carefully review distribution of funding. This allows us to assist with both long term and short term recovery efforts."
