Police: Argument leads to strong arm robbery and fight in Ocean City

Police say that an argument between two groups led to a strong arm robbery and a fight early Monday morning in Ocean City.

On Monday at 2:40 a.m., police officers responded to the area of Second Street and St. Louis Avenue for a strong arm robbery. Officers met with a large group of people where they learned that the people had been involved in an argument with another group of people which escalated to a fight.

One of the people from the group of victims reported that they were assaulted and had their cell phone stolen. Another reported being struck in the head with a handgun. Investigators say that officers found the suspect's car traveling southbound on Philadelphia Avenue shortly after the initial report.

The vehicle was stopped in the 11400 block of Ocean Gateway (Route 50) in West Ocean City. During a search of the car, officers reportedly found the stolen cell phone and a nine millimeter handgun.

20-year-old Monae Harrington of Waldorf was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, handgun in a vehicle, and use of a handgun during the commission of a felony and was transferred to the Worcester County Jail without bond. 16-year-old Novio Smallwood of Capitol Heights, was charged as an adult with first degree assault, second degree assault, handgun in a vehicle, and use of a handgun during the commission of a felony. He was transferred to the Worcester County Jail without bond.

22-year-old Javonta Thomas of Hyattsville, was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, handgun in a vehicle and use of a handgun during the commission of a felony. He was transferred to the Worcester County Jail without bond. 19-year-old Tijay Thomas of Hyattsville, was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, handgun in a vehicle, and use of a handgun during the commission of a felony. He was transferred to Worcester County Jail without bond.

16-year-old Joquan Vinson of Capitol Heights, was charged as an adult with first degree assault, second degree assault, possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun as a minor, use of a handgun during the commission of a felony, and knowingly altering a firearm identification number. He was transferred to the Worcester County Jail without bond.

22-year-old Quincy Whitman of Suitland, was charged with robbery, first degree assault, theft of less than $1,000, second degree assault, possession of a handgun, use of a handgun during the commission of a felony, and knowingly altering a firearm identification number. He was also transferred to Worcester County Jail without bond.
