Overnight severe weather in Queen Anne’s County

Severe weather and a possible tornado overnight caused some power outages in Queen Anne's County and Kent County, mainly on Kent Island.

At last check, Delmarva Power, estimated about 2,500 customers in Stevensville without power.

According to the National Weather Service, there were reports of multiple roofs torn off from homes, boats being tossed around, and a house fire.

Queen Anne's County department of emergency services declared a warning around 3:30 a.m. for residents to take in place shelter. They also advised anyone in need of shelter to go to Kent Island High School or Centreville Middle School starting at 6:30 a.m at  231 Ruthsburg Road,  Centreville, Maryland. Pets are allowed at the shelters.

Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department also reported to a “large incident” around 3:30 a.m.

Officials asked for all residents to stay in their homes.

 

The Bay Bridge was temporarily put on hold to traffic flow around 2 a.m. It was re-opened an hour later. For more information on the Bay Bridge call 1-877- BAY SPAN.
