Felton man arrested in connection to Dover robbery of delivery driver

Tyree Smith, 23, of Felton, Del.

Dover Police arrested a Felton man Thursday night in connection to the robbery of a food delivery driver at the Capital Inn.

According to police, at approximately 8:50 PM a man approached a female delivery driver as she was sitting in her car after delivering food to the Capital Inn motel at 1426 North DuPont Highway. The man reportedly opened her driver-side door and threatened her if she did not turn over cash.

Police say the driver handed over money and the man fled in a nearby vehicle. The victim then followed the suspect's car, took down his license plate number and called police, officials said.

Responding officers soon located the suspect vehicle on Walter Street and arrested the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Tyree Smith.

Smith is charged with second degree robbery for Thursday night's incident and also faces robbery charges from a separate incident in Harrington. Smith has been committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a secured bond of $28,500.
