MSP arrested suspect in connection with the murder of a man in Wicomico County

Maryland State Police arrested a suspect early this morning in connection with the murder of a man in Wicomico County.

The victim is identified as 41 year-old Migail B. Hunter at the 1000 block of East Road, Salisbury, MD.  

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. May 21, 2017, police from the Salisbury Barrack were dispatched to the 1000 block of East Road for a reported stabbing. 

The suspect is believed to be 26 year-old Latoya B. Elzey, who is Hunter's fiancé.

Troopers says they met with several witnesses and Elzey, who resided with the Hunter.

According to police, Hunter had sustained a single stab wound and was transported to PRMC, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Through police investigation, we are told Hunter and Elzey had an altercation that became physical, that resulted in Hunter being stabbed.

According to court documents obtained by 47 ABC, Elzey was holding a knife and shaking it towards Hunter.
Elzey claims Hunter walked toward her causing him to 'walk into the knife'.

Investigators found the knife in bushes outside of the apartment.

Elzey has been charged with first degree murder, second degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Elzey was taken into police custody without incident and is currently waiting to be seen by the District Court Commissioner in Wicomico County.

Investigators continue to interview neighbors and family members. A member of the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office responded to the scene and continues to work with investigators. 

Elzey is due in court for a preliminary hearing on June 15th.
