A two-story house in Viola is in ruins after an early Monday morning fire.

Shortly after 5 AM, neighbors reported a fire at a home in the 1000 block of West Evens Road. Firefighters with the Felton Community Fire Company, the Camden-Wyoming Fire Company and the Magnolia Fire Company responded and placed the fire under control at around 6:20 AM, the Delaware State Fire Marshal said.

Fire marshals say the occupants of the house were not home at the time, though two dogs left in the house died in the blaze.

Damages to the home are estimated at $150,000, officials said.
