Ocean City approves proposed tow fee increases

Ocean City’s city council approved a proposed tow fee increase on March 28, 2017.

The council approved to raise the price for a towed vehicle from $150 to $200.

The administrative fees would raise to $50 along with the same fee for storage.

The council said Ocean City's towing business allows them to have a revenue gain of $17,000.

The rate increase is supported by the Police Commission, as the town ordinance requires tow companies to notify police departments in their jurisdictions.

Police will be notified one hour after the car is towed and the owner will be notified within seven days.

The new fee rates will take effect immediately.
