Punkin Chunkin back in Sussex County for 2016

Punkin Chunkin World Championship is coming to Sussex County in November.  The event, which has not taken place on Delmarva since 2013, is returning to the same farm that hosted three years ago according to Punkin Chunkin President Frank Payton.

Payton tells 47ABC that the Wheatley’s will host the event on their farm in Bridgeville on the weekend of November 4th, 5th, and 6th.

The event has not been held for two years due to insurance concerns, but Payton tells 47ABC that those concerns have been addressed.  Alcohol will not be permitted to be brought on the premises by spectators, but it will be sold on the grounds.

The WCPCA board says they expect a huge crowd to come out in November, and Payton says “we are looking forward to everybody that has enjoyed over the years to come out and watch pumpkins fly across the Sussex county sky.”
