Weather Forecast

Daniel Johnson

Daniel Johnson

I'm Meteorologist Daniel Johnson and you can watch me weekdays from 5-7AM and on WMDT 47 News at noon.. I was born and raised in Woodbridge, Virginia so I'm very familiar with east coast weather here in the Mid-Atlantic.

As Christmas approaches the pattern looks to turn active and unsettled. If you're like me and haven't finished your holiday shopping, be sure to bring your umbrella while you're out. An area of low pressure will bring clouds and showers to the area today. Rain will begin around midday and continue off and on through the afternoon. High temperatures will be on the cool side in the mid 40s. A few scattered showers will linger into the overnight with lows falling to near 40 degrees.

We get a bit of a break from the steady rain on Tuesday. Expect mostly cloudy skies with just some occasional drizzle around. Highs will be much milder in the mid 50s.

Christmas Eve turns wetter again as another system approaches. This storm will track well to our west which means warm air will surge into the area. Highs will rise into the low and mid 60s, perhaps upper 60s in some locations. There could even be an isolated thunderstorm. Winds will increase and gust upwards of 30 mph at times.

The rain comes to an end just after Santa delivers the gifts in the middle of the night. Kids will wake up to a mostly dry Christmas morning with partly to mostly cloudy skies for the rest of the day. Temperatures will be in the mid 50s with windy conditions through the afternoon.

Temperatures begin to cool down by Friday with highs near 50 degrees under partly to mostly sunny skies. Expect mostly sunny skies on Saturday with highs near 50 and slightly cooler air on Sunday with a chance for rain.

Have a great day!
