You can find me doing the weather Sunday through Thursday nights at 6, 10 and 11 with the evening news team. I was born and raised in Felton, DE so I'm not a stranger to the Peninsula or it's weather.

As a winter storm approaches the peninsula the NWS has issued WINTER STORM WARNINGS for a majority of Delmarva meaning snow will accumulate and cause freezing on the roads as temperatures drop below freezing Thursday

The system continues to provide rain through the overnight hours with cloudy skies and lows in the lower 30s.  Thursday morning will see a switch to sleet and then to snow moving from north to south. Dover and Easton should see the switch around 10am, Salisbury around noon, and the VA counties by early afternoon.  The first snowflakes will melt due to the rain and sleet, but it will then begin to accumulate, bringing 6”-8” for the northern counties, 3”-6” for central Delmarva, and 1”-3” for the southern counties. Temperatures will be falling through the day Thursday meaning roads will freeze through the afternoon.

The system clears out Thursday evening meaning the sky will clear overnight and sunshine is back for Friday.  Friday has chilly high temperatures in the upper 20s with abundant sunshine and lighter winds.  Saturday kicks off the weekend with cool highs in the upper 30s and lots of sunshine.

Sunday is a bit warmer with highs that top out in the mid-40s and partly to mainly sunny skies.  Monday begins the next workweek with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-50s.  Tuesday has clouds increasing through the day with highs in the upper 40s.  Wednesday will have mainly cloudy skies with afternoon rain chances, brisk winds, and seasonable highs in the lower 50’s.

Stay safe tomorrow!

Hurricane Arthur landfall

Hurricane Arthur made landfall in North Carolina late on July 3, but it did not dawdle over the coastline to vandalize neighborhoods for long. By Friday morning, it had weakened to a Category 1 and was downgraded to a tropical storm on Saturday.
