Two Dead And One Injured From Two Dover Shootings

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, De. - Dover Police are investigating two separate shootings resulting in the death of two men and injuring one woman, all within 24 hours.

The first shooting occurred Sunday around 1:30 in the morning after police received noise complaints caused by a house party on the 300-block of Simon Circle. After receiving reports of multiple rounds being fired, police responded to the scene to find two people shot and taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. The first victim Tyson Henry, 24, from New Castle died at the hospital. Police say the second victim, a 25 year old woman, suffered a wound to the lower body.

Neighborhood resident Donnie Wilson recalls the morning after the overnight shooting.

Wilson told 47 ABC, "When I woke up this morning, all I saw is like 15 detectives walking around and then one of them came over as we seen 'Em walking around and they told me it was a homicide out front."

The shootings didn't stop there. About 15 hours later, another man shot dead less than a mile away on South Kirkwood Street. Police say the shooter was believed to be driving a red Jeep SVU with Pennsylvania tags.

Corporal Mark Hoffman of the Dover Police tell us, "And we believe the first three letters of the template of the tags are J as in John...D...and V as in Victor."

Residents on Kirkwood Street tell us this is relatively safe neighborhood but given the recent violence, concerns are growing within the community.

Edmund Ellis grew up in Dover and says this is the worst he's seen this neighborhood.

"I don't let my kids outside. I'm scared to let my kids outside, because I'm scared they might get shot or anything you know?" said Ellis.

Whether the two shootings are related remain unclear.

Anyone with information regarding either incidents should contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
