2nd Duck Derby Benefits National Foundation

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - And they're off! Three thousand rubber ducks swam to the finish line in support of a great cause.

The Believe In Tomorrow Children's Foundation foundation providing critically ill children and their families with clean, comfortable facilities that serve as a tool for families to rejuvenate and reconnect. The Maryland based foundation was founded in 1982 as a volunteer facility and has since then spread nationwide.

In an effort to continue providing care and resources for the children and families they support, foundation leaders host events like the 2nd Annual Duck Derby promoting both fun and a great cause.

Participants were able to "adopt" ducks and enter them into the race.

Founder Brian Morrison says, "Yellow ducks are kind of fun, and the idea of racing them in a water in a big group in the bay is just kind of a natural fun event."

Over $12,000 were raised in funds on Thursday, which is nearly double what the foundation took in last summer.
