Salisbury Drug Dealer Sentenced To 20 Years Behind Bars

SALISBURY, Md. - A Salisbury heroin dealer will spend the next two decades behind bars. On Wednesday, 48-year-old Arnold Miles, Sr., was convicted of one count of possession with the intent to distribute heroin.

A Wicomico County Circuit Court judge then sentenced him to the maximum sentence of 20 years in the Maryland Division of Corrections. Officials say the first 10 years of that sentence represented a mandatory minimum, non-parole eligible sentence because of Miles' status as a subsequent offender.

Miles had previous convictions including possession with the intent to distribute marijuana in 2006, and two counts of possession with intent to distribute a narcotic in separate cases in 1992. Wednesday's conviction makes his sixth drug related conviction, and eleventh criminal conviction since 1986.

The charges stem from a March 19th, traffic stop, where Miles, who had pending drug charges related to a drug investigation, was stopped for speeding. A K-9 alerted at the vehicle, leading Officers to 47 baggies of heroin in Miles' baseball cap, and one more in his pocket after his arrest.
