OCEANC CITY, Md. - Summer might be winding down, but that doesn't mean things are slowing down in Ocean City.

The inaugural Sandfest kicked off Monday, near the boardwalk, from North Division to 4th Street.  From August 18th through the 22nd, visitors can watch as some internationally recognized sand sculptors build some amazing masterpieces, made with 30 to 40 tons of sand.

"Each, each day kind of working on two, but when we get to the weekend, as everyone is down here, we're going to finish up so they can see the process of carving," says Patrick Harsch, a sand sculptor.

David Fitzwater has been a fan of Ocean City, and some of the enormous sand sculptures along the beach for years "it's something, that...seeing is believing."

The sculptors will be out from 9 am to 6 PM, then Saturday and Sunday, the 22 and 23rd, there will be free family events and activities including sand sculpting demonstrations and lessons.
