JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Home State Health recently hosted a youth-focused anti-smoking event for over 50 elementary-aged summer camp students attending the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital City Summer Camp. The campers participated in an interactive reading and demonstration presented by Home State Outreach staff.

The event featured an interactive reading of Smokey YuckPak, written by award-winning children's author Michelle Bain, in collaboration with Home State's parent company, Centene Corporation.

The fun event included the use of visuals- healthy organs compared to smoked-infected organs- to help illustrate dangers of what smoking can do to your body. The students also participated in a role-play exercise that helped the campers develop a response if peers or older children confront them about smoking.  The campers also took a no smoking pledge as part of the program. Each child received a copy of the Smokey YuckPak book.
