Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - A Georgetown woman has died, after being injured in a crash late last month.

Delaware State Police say on July 24th around 11:45 AM, 79-year-old James Walter, of Delmar, was driving on Shortly Road, when 76-year-old Della Mellington, drove into his path. According to the report, Mellington did not stay stopped at a stop sign, causing the Walter's truck to hit the driver's side of Mellington's mini-van.

Walter was apparently wearing a seat belt, and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.

Mellington was also apparently wearing a seat belt. Police say Mellington was flown to Kent General Hospital, before being transferred to Christiana Medical Center with serious injuries. She later died on July 29th, at Seasons Hospice of Newark, DE.

Police say their Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into this incident.
