The Eastern Shore Is Named Home To Two Of Maryland's Best Cities To Live In

Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND - Two of Maryland's top 10 best cities to live in are right here on the Eastern Shore, according to one study. According to creditdonkey.com, Easton, MD ranked number 2 and Salisbury, MD squeezed in at number 10 out of Maryland's 157 municipalities.

The research looks at a number of different factors, including the likelihood of falling victim to violent crime. In Easton the chances are slim, with just one in every 290 people being victimized. "I always feel safe in Easton. It's comforting to be able to feel that way," says Kylee Quinn, who works at Bannings Tavern.

"We do have a quality police force that is engaged in community policing. A good many of them are locals so they know the population," says Mayor Robert C. Willey.

And not only is Easton safe, it touts Maryland's pride of having some of the nation's highest wages, with an average salary of $55,000.

Easton residents drive on average 24.5 minutes to get to work, and Salisbury trumps that with just 20 minutes. Which is ideal for a state with some of the longest commute times.

And like they say, the way to a person's heart, is through their stomach. Just ask resident Kate Quinn, who says " I like restaurants. *Laughs.* I like eating out, I like not having to cook." Easton offers 1 restaurant per every 234 people, and Salisbury has 1 per every 237.

Here's how the two cities compare, one-to-one.
