Two Local Healthcare Systems Join Forces

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Two of the top healthcare systems, on the Delmarva, are joining forces.

Bayhealth of Dover, Delaware and the Peninsula Regional Health System of Salisbury, Maryland, have announced they will now become, HealthPartners Delmarva.

The new collaboration is centered on improving the entire healthcare experience for all Delmarva residents. Hospital officials say, the partnership will allow for an improvement of patient care and affordable health services for communities on the peninsula.

However, officials stress this new cooperative is not a buyout of one health system over the other, but a way to create innovative ways to share services and reduce expenses of both healthcare systems.

Both Bayhealth and PRMC say, HealthPartners Delmarva will focus on designing tools and processes for clinical improvement using the shared knowledge of both organizations.

They hope, the enhancement of the integrated healthcare, will improve the health of the community as a whole.
