Markell: Supports EPA Carbon Emission Proposal

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - Governor Jack Markell supports the EPA's recently proposed federal carbon emission regulations.

Markell testified in D.C. on Tuesday announcing that he backs the plan because of changes to emission testing already in place in the First State. According to Markell, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative reduced carbon pollution from Delaware's power plants by more than 40 percent in the last 10 years.

The EPA plan seeks to cut power plant carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2030 with states having until 2016 to submit plans.
