Health And Safety Focus Of Fair Officials

Posted: Updated:

HARRINGTON, Del. - Well, there is so much going on at the fair this year, and a lot of fun in store, but we want to remind you to keep your health and safety at the forefront.

With the large amount of animals at the fairgrounds, outbreaks of Salmonella and E-Coli infection are cause for concern, especially for your little ones.

Fair officials urge you to take advantage of the hand washing stations, located throughout the fairgrounds, especially if you have any contact with animals.

Danny Aguilar, Asst. General Manager, says "We want kids to enjoy and be part of the fair, and agriculture is an important part of it. We just want them to be safe, as well as making sure our animals, before they arrive, they're checked before they come onto the grounds. Warm water is most important. I know the hand sanitizing lotions are helpful, but really nothing beats warm water and soap like mom always says."

Also, be on the lookout for sanitizing foot mats at all the farm exhibits, they help remove fecal matter and kill pathogens.
