Man Medevaced From Boat Off OC Coast

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - A man was air-lifted off of a boat near Ocean City, after he was reportedly having trouble breathing.

The Coast Guard says on Tuesday, they medevaced a 41-year-old man from a fishing boat, 45 miles off the coast of Ocean City. The helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey arrived on scene around 5:30 PM.

Due to the weather, the man was taken to Air Station Atlantic City, where emergency medical personnel was waiting. The man's condition remained stable throughout the transit.

"We encourage boaters to check the weather forecast before going out. The best way to survive a storm is by not going out to begin with. Fortunately, a break in the passing storms made it possible for a safe hoist operation." says Brad Stickles, a search and rescue coordinator at the Coast Guard Sector Baltimore Command Center.
