LUBBOCK, Texas, July 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Volunteers make a huge difference in Lubbock and the surrounding South Plains. All over the city, individuals, groups and businesses are going above and beyond to nurture a culture of service and grow the next generation of community leaders. The Volunteer Center of Lubbock seeks to honor their contributions by requesting community nominations for the Get Involved Awards.

"Every day, across the South Plains, individuals, groups and businesses prove that Lubbock is anything but boring as they dedicate their time and their service," says Development Coordinator Amanda McAfee. "It is our privilege to recognize these contributions through the Get Involved Awards."

The Volunteer Center asks members of the community to submit nominations for the following award categories: Individual, Young Adult, College, Youth, Child(ren), Family, Business, Volunteer Coordinator, Cultural Diversity, Education, Arts, Louise Cummins Outstanding Agency or Organization Award, and Diekemper Lifetime of Service Award.

All individuals or organizations involved in volunteering activities are eligible for nomination. The Get Involved Awards will be presented at the 18th Annual Cornucopia Luncheon, November 5, 2014, at the Lubbock Country Club.

Nominations are due by noon Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Nominations submitted on or before July 31st will be entered into a drawing for a free ticket to the Cornucopia Luncheon.
