UPDATE: Overturned Truck Causes Spill And Road Closure In Felton

Posted: Updated:

FELTON, Del. - Delaware State Police say a truck on Sandtown Road overturned Friday morning, spilling liquid debris over the roadway and in a ditch.

Officials say Sandtown Road between Chandlers Road and Amsterdam Road is currently closed and will remain closed during the clean-up process.

According to officials with Delaware State Police, the liquid is a water based TAC. Officials with George & Lynch Inc., the company that owns the truck say the liquid is not toxic. It is reportedly used to bind existing roadway with new road being paved.

Around 5:30 AM Friday morning, a tank truck was driving Eastbound on Sandtown Road when the driver reportedly lost control of the truck. Reports say the 47-year-old operator was uninjured.

Police say an investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time. DNREC is assisting with the clean-up and so far there's no word on how long that process will take.

We'll bring you the latest on the road closure as it comes into our newsroom.
