UPDATE: Man Wanted On Strangulation Charges Turns Himself In

DOVER, Del. - A Camden man has turned himself in, after he allegedly strangled a woman, in front of her two children on Wednesday. Dover Police say on Wednesday, around 2:15 PM, Officers responded to a home on North New Street, after receiving a frantic 911 call.

The victim reportedly told Police that she and 22-year-old Dajaniel Smith were having an argument, when Smith started to strangle her. Police say the woman eventually lost consciousness, due to Smith's actions. The victim's two children were apparently present at the time of the incident. According to the report, after the woman regained consciousness, she attempted to call Police from her cell phone, but Smith broke the phone, before fleeing.

On Thursday, Police say Smith turned himself in around 2:30 PM. He is facing felony strangulation charges, along with 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and malicious interference with emergency communications. Bond information on Smith was not immediately available.
