Cape Henlopen Summer Reading List Sparks Controversy

Posted: Updated:

LEWES, Del. - A young-adult book recently removed from the Cape Henlopen School District's summer reading list may now be more accessible than before.

The board reportedly voted to remove Emily Danforth's The Miseducation of Cameron Post for incoming freshman, which centers around a gay character, due to the amount of expletives in the novel. Now, Rehoboth Bookstore Browseabout Books is offering the books for free, after a group offered to donate them to the store.

According to the Huffington Post, Danforth wrote a letter to the board, claiming their motive looks "homophobic."
