DELAWARE - Health care costs for those behind bars in Delaware are reportedly up 41 percent.

That's according to a new study by Pew Charitable Trusts, that looked at the numbers between 2007 and 2011.

The study links the aging inmate population to the spike, which in Delaware, grew by about 46 percent for inmates ages 55 and older.

According to numbers released to 47 ABC by the Delaware Department of Correction, they do not separate medical costs by age, but across the board, they reportedly spent $6,609.03 per inmate in 2013.
