Senators Back New Contraceptive Bill After Hobby Lobby Ruling

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON D.C. - The on-going debate about birth control coverage for religious businesses continues after last week's Supreme Court ruling.

Now Democratic Senators, including Maryland's Ben Cardin are looking to restore contraceptive coverage. The bill, the Protect Women's Health from Corporate Interference Act, would disallow employers to disrupt coverage for contraception or other health services that are guaranteed under federal law.

The Supreme Court ruled that closely held for-profit companies can deny this coverage under their company health plans if it goes against their religious beliefs.
