Samer Ramadan To Spend At Least Two Years Behind Bars

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Samer Ramadan will be spending at least two years behind bars. He's one of the two brothers from Ocean City indicted in the so-called East Coast cigarette smuggling ring.

The 41-year-old was sentenced this week, to a maximum of six years in prison. He will have to serve at least two years before being eligible for parole.

Last summer, Ramadan and his brother, 43-year-old Basel Ramadan, were arrested for their reported involvement in a multi-million dollar cigarette smuggling operation that reportedly stretched from Virginia to New York. Police took the brothers into custody after raiding the West Ocean City homes where the brothers were living.

Basel, the so-called the ring-leader, is also being charged for allegedly making phone calls from jail, in a reported attempt to kill witnesses.
