Victim Succumbs To Injuries After Shooting Last Month

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - The victim of a shooting back in June has died of his wounds.

Delaware State Police say Christopher Gillis, 26, was standing outside of Alder Park Apartments in the area of the DD building on Webbs Lane. Gillis was reportedly approached by an unknown male suspect who brandished a handgun and fired a number of rounds, hitting Gillis twice in the leg.

The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

Police say Gillis was eventually flown to Christiana Medical Center where he died June 30th. An autopsy ruled the cause of death to be a homicide by gunshot wound. It was initially reported his injured were non-life threatening.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation.  If you have information which can help police in this investigation, you're urged to call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
