Maryland Hosts Buy Local Challenge July 19th-27th

MARYLAND - One state on Delmarva is asking residents to buy local this summer. Maryland is once again hosting its Buy Local Challenge from July 19th through July 27th, where officials ask participants to eat at least one locally farm-grown food each day.

The challenge has happened for the last seven years, and was created to promote health, and support the local economy.

Margot Amelia, executive director of the Maryland Office of Tourism says "Buying local resonates with Marylanders, but also to those who visit the state over the summer months. Travelers are looking for an authentic Maryland experience, and when they buy local wine, beer and produce or enjoy freshly caught seafood, they experience the best of what Maryland has to offer."

The Maryland Tourism website offers suggestions for the entire state. Here on the Eastern Shore, their suggestions include, visiting a local winery or brewery, or attend the Maryland's Taste of Cambridge Crab Cook-Off on July 12th.
