Somerset And Worcester County Open Cooling Centers

SOMERSET CO., - The Somerset County Health Department has opened several cooling centers for the next few days. Temperatures are anticipated to be in the 90s. Extreme heat reportedly kills more than hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes, earthquakes, and floods combined. Officials are urging those who don't have access to air conditioning, to utilize the cooling centers to stay warm.


Cooling Centers will be open at the following locations and times:

Princess Anne Library (11767 Beechwood St., Princess Anne)

Monday – Thursday 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Friday and Saturday 10:00 – 5:00 PM



Crisfield Library (4 E. Main St., Crisfield)

Monday – Thursday 11:00 AM –7:00 PM

Friday 11:00 AM –5:00 PM

Saturday 10:00 AM –5:00 PM



Somerset Senior Services Center (MAC Center) (8928 Sign Post Road, Suite 3, Westover)

Tuesday July 8–Friday July 11 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM



Woodrow Wilson Community Center (119 S 7th St, Crisfield)

Tuesday July 8 –Friday July 11 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM


Officials are asking residents to bring their own food, beverages, and medications to the cooling centers. For more information, call 443-523-1700.

In Worcester County, the Worcester County Commission on Aging has opened their doors to seniors and disabled adults from 8 AM – 8 PM on Tuesday through Thursday, for those who need a place to cool off during the heat wave.
