Cause Of Saturday Fruitland House Fire Still Under Investigation

FRUITLAND, Md. - The cause of a Fruitland house fire that happened over the weekend, is under investigation.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says on Saturday, around 8:30 AM, a fire started in the living room of the one story Cartwright Avenue home. A neighbor reported the blaze, and 23 firefighters from Fruitland, Salisbury, and Allen responded. It reportedly took the crews 10 minutes to control the flames.

Damages are estimated to total $300. Officials say the home had smoke alarms, but they weren't working at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Salisbury Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office at 410-713-3780.
