One Injured In Serious Motorcycle Crash In Greenwood

GREENWOOD, Del. - Police are investigating a serious motorcycle crash, that left one man injured, in Greenwood.

Delaware State Police say around 9:20 PM on Sunday, 66-year-old Charles Lofland, of Seaford was driving a Ford F-150 south bound in the left lane of Sussex Highway/Route 13, near Cart Branch Road. According to the report, 67-year-old John Hodgson, of Millsboro, was also in the south bound left lane of Route 13, when for unknown reasons, Hodgson hit the back of the F-150.

Police say the truck was able to safely pull over in the grass median, however following the impact, Hodgson apparently lost control of the motorcycle, which fell onto its side, ejecting him on the ground. Police say the Harley and Hodgson both eventually stopped in the median, just east of the left lane.

Lofland, and his three passengers were all wearing seat belts, and weren't injured during the incident. Hodgson, who was apparently not wearing a helmet, was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital before being flown to Christiana Medical Center where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Route 13 south of Cart Branch Road was shut down for about three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared. The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit says they are still investigating the crash.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Master Corporal J. Burns at 302-644-5020 ext. 112 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips can also be submitted to the DSP Mobile Crime App, texting DSP to CRIMES (274637), or by visiting the TipSubmit website.
