Salisbury, MD.- With bases loaded and the game tying run on first base, the Delmarva Shorebirds were able to hold strong in the top of the ninth, defeating the LakeWood BlueClaws 6-3 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
The win was the Birds third consecutive, tying the streak of most wins they've stringed together since the All-Star Break. Josh Hart, in his first game since May 28th, would single in his first at-bat and score the game's opening run in the first on a sacrifice fly by Crede Simpson. Drew Dosch would bring in another run in the third inning.
Lakewood would climb back into the game after an outfield error by Hart would give Lakewood their first run in the fourth. A sac fly by Lakewood would knot the game up at two in the sixth but the Shorebirds would get three in the bottom half of the inning. Jared Breen's bases loaded, two out single scored two, and a throwing error by LakeWood third basemen Mitch Walding would result in another run scoring.
In the ninth, LakeWood threatened with the bases loaded. Ryan Minor decided to bring in reliever Donnie Hart to face Dylan Cozen. Hart came up the hero, striking out Cozen looking to end the game.
Hunter Harvey won his third straight, with six solid innings, as Donnie Hart got the one out save.
