Where Does Arthur Go From Here?

By afternoon time today, most people would never guess that a Hurricane was lurking just off of the peninsula. While the peninsula as a whole fared well from Hurricane Arthur this morning, portions of the North East are being pounded by heavy rainfall.

Hurricane Arthur continues to weaken, though as of the 8pm advisory he still retained a weak Category 1 status with sustained winds at 80 mph. While the eye remains off of the coast, portions of Massachusetts have not been spared from the effects of Hurricane Arthur. Locations in Massachusetts have seen up to 6 inches of rain, with more expected tonight. This has prompted Flash Flood Warnings for Plymouth and Bristol County in Massachusetts.

In addition to Flash Flood Warnings, Tropical Storm Warning remain in effect for Nantucket, Cape Cod, and up to Nova Scotia. High Wind Warnings are in effect for eastern Maine, as the system is expected to become an extra tropical low overnight tonight and into Saturday afternoon.  Maine is also expecting to get in on the heavy rainfall, with as much as 6 inches of rain forecasted through tomorrow.

Despite the fact that conditions here on the peninsula will be nothing short of beautiful tomorrow, rough surf and rip currents are a threat along the beaches. If you do chose to go into the water, always swim in front of a life guard!
