Beach Businesses Hope For Better Holiday Weekend After Arthur

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Just a little rain, wind, and choppy seas on Delmarva after Hurricane Arthur, but that was enough to take a toll on businesses in Ocean City.

The boardwalk wasn't as packed as it usually gets on the Fourth of July, certainly a low turnout this year, but with sunny skies predicted for the rest of the weekend business owners are hoping that things will pick up.

"Def not the volume of people down here. Anybody that is trying to come down for the day is going to wait for tomorrow hopefully. It's the first rainy day of the year and it's the Fourth of July," said Dan Troiano, owner of Dimensions.

Will Schanno, who runs the shop Cigars, said "I think it's scared a lot of people but I think there's still a decent amount of people in town so there still is business going on."

Because of the storm, Ocean City and other surrounding towns had to postpone their fireworks displays.
