Shots Fired During Dover Home Invasion

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - An early morning home invasion in Dover, during which shots were fired, is under investigation. Delaware State Police say around 3:15 AM on Friday, a 32-year-old male, who was asleep in the living room, was awoken by a bang coming from the front door of his Norway Drive home.

According to the report, the man tried to get up, when an unknown suspect hit him in the temple with a handgun. Police say the victim and the suspect struggled before the victim was able to run into his brother's room of the house. As the victim closed the bedroom door behind him, he laid on the floor in front of it to keep it closed.

Police say the suspect then fired four or five shots into the door, after which the victim's brother grabbed his handgun, and shot three rounds at the door. The suspect reportedly then fled from the home, without any property, in an unknown direction.

The 32-year-old victim was taken to Kent General Hospital, where he was treated for a contusion to his temple, and released. 24-year-old was not injured during the incident.

Police say there is no physical or clothing description for the suspect, and there may have been more than one during the incident. Detectives who are investigating the Pinewood Acres Mobile Home Park home invasion say they don't believe it was a random act, and that they think the victims were targeted.
