D.C. Mayor Urges Residents To Boycott Eastern Shore, Rep. Harris Fires Back

47 ABC - Representative Andy Harris responds to attacks by D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray.

Wednesday, Mayor Gray urged residents to boycott the Eastern Shore of Maryland this holiday, because of Harris' position on decriminalizing marijuana.

Harris who represents the Eastern Shore, successfully attached an amendment to a House budget bill that would overturn the city's marijuana decriminalization law.

At a news conference, Gray said that residents shouldn't support someone who doesn't support them.

"These personal attacks, I get it. I'm a politician, I'm used to it. He knows the phone number to my office. If he has an issue with me trying to protect D.C. youth from high unemployment and high drug use, then he knows the number. I'm more than happy to talk to him about that issue. However if he wants to make this an issue about democracy or his claim that somehow congress doesn't have jurisdiction over the District of Columbia, that's settled in the Constitution. That's not up for discussion," Harris told 47 ABC.

Harris, a Republican went on to say that he's disappointed and that D.C. residents should be disappointed too.
