DELAWARE - Progress is being made on the 1-495 bridge in Delaware
The remaining steel-reinforced concrete shafts that needed to be installed below ground on the southbound side of the bridge, were reportedly completed Thursday. Crews have also begun digging the 16 shafts needed for the northbound side of the bridge. In addition, very Thursday morning, crews will pour concrete on the bases for the towers.
Last month the bridge was shut down, because of tilting support columns.
